Mexican telecoms regulator Cofetel on Wednesday approved six requests for cable TV licenses, revoked 62 radio licenses, and started sanction proceedings against mobile telco Telcel. The companies whose cable TV operating licenses were approved are Sistemas de TV Cable Vida, which applied for an operating license for Mexico State; MYC Red, which got a license for the Jalisco and Michoacán states; MegaCable, which got three licenses for the states of Jalisco, Sonora and Querétaro; and Marco Antonio Gazano, for Guerrero state. During its board meeting, Cofetel also sent four proposals to transport and communications ministry SCT to sanction Radiomóvil Dipsa, controlling holding of mobile operator Telcel, for failing to respond to information requests from State ministries within the stipulated 72 hours. In addition, sanction proceedings were started against three cable TV concessionaires for failing to meet different specifications of their concession licenses. Cofetel also decided to revoke 62 radio broadcasting licenses for having failed to pay for the rights to use the frequency.
