Colombian power company Celsia maintains an interest in acquiring the 325MW hydro Porvenir II despite a setback reported by project owner Producción de Energía (Proesas).

Celsia, which looks to purchase the asset, said in a statement that Proesas informed authorities it will not be able to comply with firm energy obligations assigned in a 2012 auction, as construction has not begun.

The expected December 2018 operation startup will be delayed over a year, added Celsia, which said Porvenir II could participate in future supply calls.

The acquisition will be finalized once all permits, including the environmental license, are in place, said Celsia.
