Pattern takes control of Chile's El Arrayán wind farm

US power company Pattern Energy acquired AEI's 38.5% interest in Chile's El Arrayán wind project, increasing the former's stake in the 115MW operation to 70%.

Local mining company Antofagasta Minerals owns the remaining 30% of El Arrayán, the largest wind farm operating in Latin America, Pattern said in a statement.

Pattern paid a purchase price of US$45.3mn for the acquisition, and assumed AEI's US$87mn share of project debt.

The deal brings Pattern's owned capacity to 1.48GW.

El Arrayán is located in Chile's Coquimbo region (IV) and supplies power to the central SIC grid.
