After reaching agreements with the mining company MMG Las Bambas, promoted by executive branch officials, the authorities and leaders of the district of Coporaque, province of Espinar, Cusco, lifted their protest and promised to maintain social peace and dialogue in their jurisdiction.

Both parties met yesterday for more than four hours in the main square of the Coporaque district, facilitated by representatives of the General Office of Social Management (OGGS) of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).

During the day of dialogue, it was agreed to form a committee to follow up on the commitments made with the mining company, made up of officials from MINEM, the Secretary for Social Management and Dialogue of the PCM, two representatives from Coporaque and a representative from the Las Bambas company.

This committee will monitor the acquisition of two agricultural tractors and the economic contribution corresponding to this year, within the framework of its social responsibility committed by the mining company for the development of the Coporaque district.

In this line, the results of these agreements will be socialized next Monday, October 17. For this, the mining company Las Bambas undertakes to provide the supporting documentation.

It should be noted that the residents of the district of Coporaque, as a sign of goodwill towards peace and dialogue, grant a truce from the date until Monday the 17th, the day on which the minutes of March 25, 2022 will also be reviewed, and the mining company's proposal for the delivery of seeds and two tractors, proposed for next October 30 and November 15, respectively.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Las Bambas mining company, the Coporaque District Municipality, the Coporaque Single Interests Front, the Coporaque Single Defense Front and 27 presidents of the peasant communities and civil society of the district.
