Former head of Colombia's infra agency under house arrest
The former head of Colombia's infrastructure agency ANI, Luis Andrade, was placed under house arrest by a judge who is investigating whether he exerted undue influence when signing an addendum to a now cancelled highway contract with construction company Odebrecht.
The investigation is part of a wider probe into bribes paid by the Brazilian firm in the country.
Andrade, who resigned from his post at ANI in August shortly after it was revealed he would be charged with undue influence in granting contracts, also allegedly instructed his "confidant " Juan Correa to keep a visitors log in his office. In the log, visits of congressman Miguel Elías, also investigated in the Odebrecht scandal, were erased, a press release from the prosecutor's office says.
The prosecutors quote an August 22 statement from Correa in which he says that Andrade told him to say that he only met with representatives from Odebrecht once at Elías' apartment.
According to the same statement, Andrade went to Elías' apartment at least five times, and that in those meetings Eleuberto Antonio Martorelli, Odebrecht's representative in Colombia, was also present.
The addendum to the now cancelled Ruta del Sol 2 concession entailed the 82km Ocaña-Gamarra stretch.
