Gamesa to supply Iberdrola with 129 new turbines

Spanish energy company Gamesa will supply compatriot firm Iberdrola Renovables with 129 wind turbines over the next two years as part of the latter's push to construct nine wind farms across Brazil. Gamesa will supply Iberdrola with its 2MW G8X model. In total, 258MW will be added to the grid with the new turbines. The contract also covers installation and maintenance duties, which Gamesa will perform through 2012. Iberdrola Renovables currently owns one 49MW wind farm in Brazil located in the northeastern state of Rio Grande do Norte. The firm won the right to construct the new wind farms in conjunction with Brazilian power group Neoenergia following the most recent renewable energy tender organized by the country's utility sector regulator Aneel.
