Mexico begins building space telecoms center in Zacatecas

On August 9, 2018 will be remembered as a historic day for the country, as the First Stone Placement Ceremony was held at the Regional Center for Space Development in the State of Zacatecas (CREDEZ), which will house the first Telecommunications Space Center of Mexico, with the presence of the Governor of the State of Zacatecas, Alejandro Tello Cristerna, the General Director of the Mexican Space Agency (AEM), Dr. Javier Mendieta Jiménez, and the General Director of the Zacatecan Council of Science, Technology and Innovation (COZCYT), Dr. Agustín Enciso Muñoz.

The ceremony was attended by General of the Air Force Pilot Aviator Diploma, Manuel de Jesús Hernández González, as Personal Representative of the Secretary of National Defense (SEDENA), General Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda and the Deputy Director of Federal Autotransport of the SCT Center in Zacatecas, Lic. Juan José Márquez Romero.

They were also accompanied by the Representative of the Northeast Regional Directorate of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), the MAP Diego Ulises Sandoval Aguirre, representing the General Director of this organization, Dr. Enrique Cabrero Mendoza; by the Rector of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ), Dr. Antonio Guzmán Fernández, and by distinguished scientific assistants, academics and representatives of industry, civil society, and the media.

Each award, each international competition in which young people win in space topics, coincided the attendees, is a tribute to the people of Mexico, their talent, their creativity, their vision, ingenuity and their inexhaustible enthusiasm, and Zacatecas is acquiring through this act, a new and innovative productive vocation of high added value in the field of space telecommunications (communication between satellites, between rockets, from space to land, or land to land via space, among others), which will help to overcome technological gaps In our country and in the medium and long term, consolidate Mexico as a global aerospace power, they concluded.
