IN BRIEF: Jamaica cuts ribbon on stretch of Highway 2000

Jamaica's Prime Minister Andrew Holness attended the official opening of the north-south link of the country's Highway 2000, state news agency JIS reported.

The 67km stretch runs north-south, connecting the Ocho Rios port town in northern Jamaica and the Caymanas Park area in capital Kingston.

China Harbour Engineering Company carried out the construction works, which required investment of over US$600mn. State agency National Road Operating and Constructing Company will operate toll booths along the stretch for a 50-year concession period.

Highway 2000 is a network of toll roads.
