Mexico wind power sets generation record

Wind power in Mexico sent a record 282GWh to the grid in November, up 233% from 84.5GWh in the year-ago month, the latest figures from national power company CFE show. Wind generation has seen tremendous growth in the last year with capacity surpassing 1.3GW in October. Geothermal generation in the month was 465GWh while nuclear sources generated 503GWh compared to 515GWh and 683GWh, respectively, in the year-ago month. Solar plants accounted for just 161MWh in November. Meanwhile, hydroelectric generation was down in November to 1.61TWh compared to 2.62TWh the previous month and 2.87TWh in November 2011. Thermo plants generated 13.9TWh in November compared to 12.9TWh in the year-ago month.
