Panama cancels US$435mn tender to build oncology hospital
Panama’s health ministry cancelled a US$435mn tender to build an oncology hospital in the Ancón district of Panama City, citing the need to add new criteria requested by companies.
The ministry is expected to launch a new tender, reported news outlet La Estrella.
“A modification in the method and form of payment for this project will be made, according to what interested parties requested during the meetings,” said the ministry’s director of health infrastructure, Carlos Candanedo.
The ministry is also looking at changing the construction site.
During the first tender meeting on March 21 last year, 32 companies expressed interest in participating, reported Panamá América website.
The facility is meant to replace a smaller hospital. The tender to carry out pre-construction studies, the hospital design, and draw up the blueprints was launched on March 2 and was modified at least six times.
On December 12, the ministry announced it was in the process of answering questions from all interested companies.
