Paraguay inaugurates new section of road project executed under PPP

The Head of State, Mario Abdo Benítez, enabled this Friday a total of 17 km of new routes built with the highest international standards, corresponding to the variants of Caacupé and Itacurubí, in the department of Cordillera.

These works, which are part of the duplication and expansion of the PY02 route, will help speed up vehicular traffic through the ring road in these cities, while improving road safety for the population

The Caacupé bypass has an extension of 10 km and goes from km 52 to km 62. For its part, the Itacurubí bypass, 7 km long, begins at kilometer 88 of Itacurubí de la Cordillera - access to the Valenzuela district – and culminates at km 95.

In both cases, the highway has two carriageways separated by New Jersey-type concrete barriers, with two 3.5-meter lanes, including internal and external shoulders, as well as third lanes for heavy vehicles in steep areas.

All this is accompanied by a modern lighting system at the main intersections, as well as signs in accordance with international standards, which will allow the user to circulate safely and quickly.

For the internal interconnection of the cities and according to each variant, returns, overpasses and underpasses, side roads and wildlife crossings were incorporated.

It should be noted that, so far, 122 km of the 149.5 km planned have been enabled for transit. The already operational routes include between Ypacaraí and Caacupé, Eusebio Ayala and Itacurubí, and from Itacurubí to Caaguazú, which represents an important commitment to the economic development of the country and the people, bringing with it road and urban improvements for the cities through which it crosses the route.

With the duplication and expansion of the PY02 route, run by Rutas del Este , the renewed logistics corridor through which more than 60% of the economic activity of our country moves is also completed.
