Paraná state moves forward with US$74mn bridge
Brazil’s Paraná state said a consortium formed by three firms will be responsible for the construction of the Guaratuba bridge, with an investment of 387mn reais (US$73.9mn).
Nova Ponte Consortium - formed by OECI, Carioca Christiani-Nielsen Engenharia and Goetze Lobato Engenharia – will both develop the project and build the 1,244m bridge.
The Guaratuba bridge is “an extremely important project for the entire coastline and for the population of Paraná," said the state secretary for infrastructure and logistics, Fernando Furiatti, in a press release.
Paraná held an auction for the project in September and Nova Ponte Consortium presented the third best offer. However, the state’s highways department (DER/PR) disqualified the proposals made by two other consortiums as they did not meet all the criteria in the tender notice.
The project is set to be completed in 32 months, including two months for obtaining an environmental license and six months for project preparation.
