Desarrollo Minero Centinela is seeking to mine Minera Centinela's Esperanza Sur and Encuentro pits. The project will be implemented in two stages: • Stage 1: Mining of the Esperanza Sur pit, feeding the new concentrator plant, as well as collecting and leaching of oxide ore. The effluents will be sent to the SX-EW plant of the oxides line. • Stage 2: Joint mining of the Esperanza Sur and Encuentro pits, feeding the Centinela concentrator in addition to oxide ore beneficiation. Effluents will be sent to the SX-EW plant of the oxides line. This stage will also look to maintain the operational continuity of the oxide ore operation from the Encuentro pit, extending the life of the Óxidos Encuentro facility by approximately nine years. The project will require an average of 9,000 workers during the construction phase and 2,890 during the operating stage. The project is located in Sierra Gorda and Mejillones in Antofagasta province, and in the city of Maria Elena in Tocopilla province, all in the region of Antofagasta.
