The Lalackama project is owned and operated by Italy-based company Enel Green Power, and is expected to be the company's largest photovoltaic plant. With an installed capacity of 60MW, the plant will be capable of generating up to 160GWh per year, equivalent to the electricity needs of about 90,000 Chilean households, while preventing the emission of over 100,000t of CO2 into the atmosphere. The plant is budgeted at US$110mn. In December 2014, Enel Green Power completed and connected to the grid its Lalackama plant. However in May 2015 an additional 18MW section, dubbed Lalackama II, was finished and brought online. The complex currently boasts 78MW for the country's SIC grid.
