Project Details

The Taboada wastewater treatment plant in port city Callao will have a treatment capacity of up to 20.3m3/s, handling wastewater from Lima's Interceptor Norte, Colector Comas-Chillón and Sarita Colonia systems. Spanish firm ACS was awarded a concession contract for Taboada in February 2009. The firm will design, finance, build, operate and maintain the plant for 25 years. Together, the La Chira and Taboada treatment plants are designed to treat 100% of the capital's wastewater, thus ensuring clean beaches on the Lima and neighboring Callao coastlines, and reducing pollution in the Rimac river. The new plant will serve more than 4mn residents in 27 districts in Lima and neighboring Callao, and boast an underwater pipeline built by Peruvian port operator Tramarsa.
