Melipilla Pozzolana Quarry

Description: Melipilla Pozzolana Quarry Mining development projects over 5,000 tons/month The Melipilla Pozzolana Quarry Project aims to extract pozzolana from the Culiprán sector, belonging to the Melipilla commune in the Metropolitan Region, considering an average extraction rate of 400,000 tons/year, however due to market conditions it is expected to reach a peak extraction of 500,000 tons/year. The process begins with the preparation of the land through the escarpment or overload removal, exposing the pozzolana. The process then continues with the extraction of the pozzolan from the exposed forehead with a front end loader. Subsequently, the front loader feeds a mobile sorting plant to eliminate the oversize, where it is finally collected and transferred to the industrial facilities of Melón SA As a result of the selected mining exploitation method, the construction of a waste dump and vegetable cover will be required withdrawn in the months of construction of the quarry. This deposit will be located in the same area as the deposit and will be of a temporary nature, being used only during the first phases of exploitation. In the following phases of exploitation, the material produced by the escarpment will be immediately placed on the already exploited areas for their closure. At the end of the useful life of the project, the material accumulated in the initial sterile deposit and plant cover will be deposited inside the pit, as a fill. The general objective of the Project is the extraction of pozzolana from the deposit located in the Culiprán sector, Melipilla commune, to supply the cement plants of the Melón SA company located in La Calera and/or Ventanas with raw material. The total reserves of the Project are 20MM tons, for an exploitation rate of 400,000 tons/year on average, and may reach a peak of 500,000 tons/year as a result of market conditions.
