Electrificadora del Meta S.A. E.S.P. (Emsa) is a Colombian joint-stock company engaged in electric power distribution and trading, serving 24 of the 29 municipalities in the department of Meta. It is controlled by Colombia's state government, with other minority shareholders including Meta's municipal government and Empresa de Energía de Bogotá (EEB). The company's network comprises 39 substations, with a total installed capacity of 585MVA, and 8,548km of medium and high voltage transmission lines. Emsa serves over 290,000 residential, commercial, industrial and governmental clients, as well as those in the deregulated electric power market, in addition to supplying power for street lighting. Emsa was founded in 1981 and is based in Villavicencio, Colombia.
