IDB approved technical cooperation funds to support the Ecuadoran government's preparation of a national energy efficiency and renewable energy plan.

The regional lender also authorized technical cooperation funds for a waste-to-energy project in the city of Loja.

Honduras' finance secretary Wilfredo Cerrato announced that offers to take over distribution from state power company Enee as part of the latter's recovery plan are due September 21.

Eléctricas de Medellín and Manitoba Hydro have prequalified for the call. Offers will be reviewed until October 5, local paper La Prensa quoted Cerrato as saying.


Paraguay's state power company Ande issued a call to provide technical, social and environmental supervision service for 500kV transmission project Yacyretá-Ayolas-Villa Hayes. Offers for the two-year, US$8.4mn contract are due October 19, according to bidding information.


Puerto Rico power utility AEE filed a motion to intervene with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in response to allegations from Comité Diálogo Ambiental related to Aguirre Offshore GasPort's LNG project.

"These allegations require a direct intervention, response and clarification by PREPA [AEE] for the benefit of the commission and other parties in the proceeding," said AEE, which is a project partner.
