Paraguay issues tender for Asunción BRT Corridor

Paraguay's public works and communications ministry (MOPC) issued a tender call for the construction of a 3.2km bus rapid transit corridor in capital Asunción, which will be part of the city's BRT system.

The tender is for the 1.1 central corridor section of the trunk system and it has an official budget of 87bn guaraníes (US$15.7mn). This stretch runs between the streets Tte. César Díaz Pefaur and Luis Alberto de Herrera.

Bids will be received until May 2, while the bid opening ceremony will be held on May 23.

Other two stretches of the project are currently under construction by Mota-Engil, which was awarded the contract for sections 2 and 3 last year for 300bn guaraníes (US$54mn), covering 11.4km between the city of San Lorenzo and the port of Asunción.
