Ministry publishes Amazonas, Guainía, Vaupés concession documents

Colombia's mines and energy ministry has released project documents for the planned concession of power service in departments Amazonas, Guainía and Vaupés. The ministry will receive comments through April 6. Project documents include reference terms and studies. Amazonas has 9,383 clients, 8,126 of which are residential and the remainder commercial and industrial; Guainía has 5,233 customers, 92.7% of which are residential; and Vaupés has 4,408 clients, according to draft reference terms. The Vaupés concession also includes the municipality of Miraflores in Meta department. The ministry has pledged to provide 15bn pesos (US$5.94mn) for Amazonas, 10bn pesos for Guainía and 10bn pesos for Vaupés. The concessionaire will have to invest 40bn pesos, 23bn pesos and 22bn pesos, respectively. The concessions aim to improve service quality, coverage and continuity.
