Next month's A-3 power generation auction in Brazil will boast up to 600 wind projects with a physical guarantee of 6.6 average MW, according to the mining and energy ministry. In a note published by national gazette Diário Oficial da União, the A-3 auction was confirmed for December 12 while the A-5 round is scheduled two days later. Among the wind farm projects listed in A-3 are works belonging to renewable energy firms Endesa, Renova Energia, Eletrosul and Bioenergy. The auction also includes biomass and small hydroelectric plants with production earmarked to begin on April 1, 2015. A-5, which comprises hydroelectric, wind and thermoelectric (biomass and natural gas) facilities, stipulates a project deadline of January 2017. Small hydroelectric plants on offer at both bid rounds will total 27.8MW while biomass-fired thermoelectric plants make up 189.8 average MW shared among 16 projects. Meanwhile power regulator Aneel said in a statement it had rescheduled the year's seventh transmission auction from December 5 to December 19. Eight lots comprising 4,445km and 1.94GVA will be on offer across 11 states with investments expected to reach 4.3bn reais (US$2.1bn).
