Argentine power demand up 4.6% in October

Argentine power demand was up 4.6% to 10.0TWh in October compared to the year-ago month, according to the latest report by national power market operator Cammesa.

Net generation grew 4.9% to 10.4TWh in the period as grid losses rose 19.9% to 341GWh.

On the night of October 1, gross generation peaked at 19,484MW of the 31,393MW generation park connected to the national SADI grid.

Thermo generation rose 1% from October 2012 to 6.29TWh and accounted for 60.4% of total generation while hydro increased 17.6% to 3.69GWh and represented 35.4% of the mix.

Nuclear generation declined 2.8% to 380GWh while wind and solar generation increased 87.4% and 48.3% respectively to 48.8GWh and 1.6GWh. Nuclear, wind and solar accounted for 3.6%, 0.47% and less than 0.01% of the mix.

Imports totaled 12.1GWh in October, up from 11.2GWh in September. There were no imports in October 2012. No power exports were recorded last month.
