Attack leaves Colombia's Tumaco without power
Local authorities were working to restore electricity to more than 200,000 people on Tuesday after an explosion destroyed a transmission tower in Colombia's southwest.
The incident occurred late on Monday, cutting off power supply to more than 95% of the population in the Pacific port city of Tumaco.
"Enough is enough. Stop this aggression against the population," Nariño department governor Camilo Romero said on Twitter.
He added that emergency service crews were working with local power utility Cedenar to assess the damage, but could not estimate how long repairs would take.
"Once we are clear about the dimension of the problem we will know when we can re-establish energy services," Romero said.
Colombia continues to grapple with violence despite a 2016 peace agreement that ended a decades-old conflict between the government and FARC rebels.
A report published by Colombia's Peace and Reconciliation Foundation in November said Nariño was one of five regions affected by new turf wars in former FARC strongholds.
