Bnamericas Published: Monday, November 25, 2013

Brazil's Pernambuco state government has set a 250-real (US$109/MWh) cap on the price of solar energy sold at the PE Sustentável auction.

The round has also been brought forward by two months to December 20, the government said in a statement.

Interested bidders have until midday on December 13 to register for the auction.

Developers are obliged to begin commercial operations by July 1, 2015, with contracts lasting 20 years.

Projects must be located within the state of Pernambuco in Brazil's northeast. Projects whose percentage of locally made equipment exceeds 60% are able to delay contracts by up to 18 months.

Details of the tender in Portuguese can be seen here.
