Colombia's Hocol makes natural gas discovery
Hocol has made a new natural gas discovery at its onshore Coralino-1 well in northern Colombia, the company said on Thursday.
Gas was identified in several sandstone intervals at a depth of 2,432m, Hocol said in a statement. The well was drilled to a total depth of 3,292m.
"Work is currently underway to start the testing period to be followed in the coming months, which will allow us to establish the productivity and its commercial viability," the statement read.
Coralino-1 is located around 60km southeast of Montería, the capital of Córdoba department. The area forms part of the VIM-8 block in the Lower Magdalena Valley basin.
Bogotá-based Hocol is a subsidiary of state-run oil company Ecopetrol.
