Concession call for Ecuador-Peru power link falls through

Peru’s investment promotion agency ProInversión has declared void the concession process for the 500kV Piura Nueva-Frontera power transmission project.
The call fell through after Celeo Redes was the only company of four qualifiers to submit an offer.
The other potential participants for the 30-year contract were Conelsur, Interconexión Eléctrica and Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, BNamericas reported previously.
ProInversión did not immediately respond to a request for comment on when a new process would be issued.
Piura Nueva-Frontera is part of a planned link with Ecuador and includes a 264km line from the Piura Nueva substation to the border with Peru’s northern neighbor and expansion of the substation.
Estimated investment reaches US$177mn, and the winner will have four years to complete the work.
In recent days, IDB approved financing for Ecuador’s stretch of the planned interconnection with Peru.
The government agency also has calls underway for power concessions Ica-Poroma and Caclic-Jaen Norte; Huánuco-Tocache-Celendín-Trujillo, Celendín-Piura, Reque-Nueva Carhuaquero, Nueva Tumbes, Nueva Tumbes-Tumbes; and Belaunde Terry-Tarapoto Norte, San José-Yarabamba, Piura Nueva-Colán, Lambayeque Norte, Chiclayo Oeste-La Niña/Felam and Piura Este.
SOLAR PROJECT
In another development, the energy and mines ministry granted Joya Solar a definitive concession for the dispatch component of Joya’s 252MW San Martín Solar project in the southern coastal region of Arequipa.
The concession covers the 2.3km, 220kV San Martin Solar-San José transmission line, the new San Martín Solar substation and expansion of the existing San José substation.
Joya requested the concession in February, and in September secured the definitive concession for the solar park.
