Cuba’s 2030 agenda aiming at infra improvements

As part of Cuba's 2030 agenda, the economics and planning ministry wants to implement five infrastructure programs that contain 11 projects in various economic sectors.
While many measures remain opaque, the 2030 agenda aims at increasing competitiveness and territorial integration, as well as attracting foreign direct investment and financial diversification.
BNamericas provides an outline of the ministry’s programs.
Transport and logistics infrastructure
Four projects in this program are aimed at improving integrated transport logistics and storage infrastructure to make trade more efficient and ease supply chain processes. Another two projects focus on rearrangement and improvement of passenger and cargo transportation, and one on better infrastructure management.
ICT infrastructure
Under this topic, the government wants to improve ICT services and digital television services.
Water and sanitary infrastructure
One water supply and wastewater treatment project is planned, under which treatment plants will be built and the supply network repaired.
Metrology system
This project will renovate the national infrastructure to comply with measurement normalization requirements, quality, and safety of goods and services in prioritized sectors of the economy. It also contains a program with a strategy to boost competitive access to markets through certification of systems, products, trials, and inspection entities.
Infrastructure financing
According to the government, this program includes a project to attract and diversify financing sources for infrastructure development.
The ministry did not reply to a request for comment on specific strategies for the agenda.
