Dominicans are talking less, browsing more
Dominicans have been increasing their online presence while speaking less on the phone.
Dominican Republic watchdog Indotel reported that from September 2014 to September 2015 residents of the country spent over 6bn minutes talking through fixed and mobile phones, around 360,000 minutes less than in the previous 12-month period.
Meanwhile, the country had 4.6mn internet access accounts in September 2015, a 32.5% increase from September 2014. Mobile lines grew to 8.69mn from 8.02mn, mostly prepaid (6.84mn).
