Italy's Enel Green Power has brought online its 80MW Fontes dos Ventos wind farm in the northeastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco.
The US$158mn facility comprises 34 turbines with a combined generation potential of 320mn kWh/y, Enel said in a statement on Tuesday.
Fontes dos Ventos will supply energy to both the free and regulated markets under a long-term power purchase agreement signed in 2011.
The facility will be the first power generation plant in Brazil to combine more than one energy source.
Work on two solar parks, with overall capacity of 11MW, will begin at the site in January.
