São Paulo, November 18, 2022 -- GOL Linhas Aéreas , Brazil's largest airline, continually invests in products and services that improve the experience and optimize customers' time. The company, which was born with the DNA of innovation and technology and for 21 years has been revolutionizing the commercial aviation market with its pioneering spirit, understood the need to accelerate its digital transformation process based on changes in post-pandemic consumer behavior, adjusting flows and platforms to maintain its standard of customer service.

With that in mind, the company announces another stage of its digital transformation journey focused on its customers by transferring part of its systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) , a secure and high-performance data flow management infrastructure. With this, the initiative will allow the company to improve customer service processes, internal operations, billing, collection and management of digital platforms with agility, scalability and security, in a project that combines innovation and efficiency.

The company is migrating more than 90% of its entire technology park to the Oracle cloud and, at this moment, 80% of its applications are already operating in the Oracle Cloud. Now, GOL changes its behavior to adopt the multicloud concept, which allows it to obtain more scalability and availability to meet its demands from anywhere in the world.

“GOL is excited about the project and feeling the gains from using the cloud, bringing comfort so that it has returns on IT and infrastructure. Less production time and changes in the system are factors that show us that we are heading in the right direction”, concludes Luiz Borrego, GOL's CIO.

Acquired results

In January of this year, GOL already placed the first application on OCI that serves all the company's travel agents, the web service, which represents a transaction volume of 40% to 60%. All travel agencies or websites that sell GOL airline tickets need this service to obtain complete coverage of the company's offers.

Oracle's advantage in operating in different regions of data centers around the world is a differentiator, according to Luiz. As the company operates in important continents such as North America and Europe, this impacts the services offered to its customers outside Brazil. Another positive point is the cost reduction that GOL had by migrating its entire technology park to the cloud. With that, the technology area started to play a prominent role in the innovation strategy that the company has been implementing since the end of last year.

Two clicks also make the difference to make the environment more flexible in the cloud. This is the result for decision-making now made in minutes, which has replaced some processes that would take a few days. This is a source of satisfaction in the work of GOL's internal customers.

In terms of performance, GOL reported that the environment remains more stable and improved, with fast and online service in its channels, especially those where passengers use check-in, boarding and shopping. Internally, there were reinstallations on all servers with the most recent versions of the cloud, thus reducing errors in its technological park. The focus, at this moment, is on the client's agility and on the company's business. Everything that is born in the cloud automatically generates ready-made documentation, thus helping with governance issues, audits, among others and, with that, helping to improve new technologies such as the autonomous database and Kubernetes.

In the front-end of the company's application, the improvement was three times compared to the previous one. If for the end customer the change was very expressive, the exchange also brought solidity to the operation, with faster processing and agile delivery, absorption of any sales volume without impact, scalable and healthy environment.

“The cloud will help us a lot in the way IT serves the business. The expectation is that it will respond quickly and with governance to the need for innovation and process improvement”, says Luiz Borrego.

“Supporting GOL in the transition to the cloud and, with that, further improving the experience of customers who have returned to traveling safely and of the entire ecosystem of the company, is further proof that this is the path of innovation that empowers the companies towards digital acceleration”, comments Marcos Pupo, Senior Vice President of Oracle Cloud for Latin America.
