IDB, NWC open bidding on water supply project

Jamaica's National Water Commission (NWC) has opened bidding on consulting engineering contracts for a program to improve water supply in the Kingston metropolitan area. The tender will be financed by part of a US$133mn IDB loan secured last November. NWC aims to upgrade water systems in the towns of Old Harbour, May Pen and Mandeville and build a new pumping station from Ferry to Red Hills. Tender winners will perform construction administration and residential engineering for an estimated duration of eight months and with a further proposed 24 months for construction supervision.
