Santo Domingo Dominican Republic. 03-24-2022.- The executive director of the National Energy Commission (CNE), Edward Veras, attended the signing of the agreement between the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), Cervecería Nacional Dominicana and Akuo Energy Dominicana, for the construction of a solar energy park, which will supply renewable energy for the operations of the Cervecería Nacional.

The agreement was signed between the Deputy Minister of Savings and Energy Efficiency of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Alfonso Rodríguez; the president of the Dominican National Brewery, Fabián Suárez; the executive vice president of the Dominican National Brewery, Luis Álvarez and the investment manager in the Dominican Republic of Akuo Energy, Ophélie Lainé.

The solar energy park in the province of María Trinidad Sánchez will have a capacity of 53 MW and will reduce CO2 emissions by more than 50,000 tons per year. At the same time, 550 direct jobs and more than 2,000 indirect jobs will be generated in order to contribute to the revitalization of the country's economy.

Through this agreement, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana undertook to buy the energy that the solar park will produce, guaranteeing the viability of the project.

The solar park that will provide energy to the brewery will be built with the support of Banco Popular, thanks to the concession granted by the National Energy Commission, the institution in charge of the operational policy of the energy sector, under the stewardship of the Ministry of Energy and Mines. .

By 2025, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana assumed the responsibility of transforming its energy matrix to use 100% renewable energy in its operations, also supporting what is established in Law 57-07 on Incentives for the Development of Renewable Energy Sources and of its Special Regimes regulated by the National Energy Commission.
