
Mexico launches PPP tenders to build 2 hospitals

Mexico's social security agency IMSS has launched tenders to build two hospitals under a PPP model.
The two projects will combined require funding of 2.5bn pesos (US$132mn), according to information from the finance ministry's 2016 budget proposal.
The hospitals are part of the seven facilities that the authorities are planning to build under the PPP model, with a total investment of about 4.25bn pesos.
The first tender consists of constructing a hospital in the municipality of Bahía de Banderas in the state of Nayarit.
Technical and economic proposals are due on August 18, and the winner will be announced on October 12, according to information on the Mexican government's procurement portal, CompraNet.
Work is expected to get underway on November 25 and should be concluded by the end of November, 2018. Compranet did not disclose the required investment for the project.
However, information from the finance ministry's 2016 budget proposal shows that this facility will cost 1.14bn pesos.
The hospital will have 144 beds, 33 consulting rooms and specialize in 31 medical areas, according to Compranet
SECOND HOSPITAL
The IMSS has also launched a pre-tender to build a hospital in the municipality of Tapachula, in the southern state of Chiapas.
The authorities have not released more information about this tender.
This project will require investment of 1.36bn pesos, according figures from the finance ministry.
The hospital will have 180 beds, 31 consulting rooms and will specialize in 22 medical areas, according to Compranet.
