PDVSA, Corpoelec to inject US$159mn into Falcón grid

Venezuela's PDVSA and Corpoelec are set to spend 1bn bolívares (US$159mn) to improve electric power infrastructure in the state of Falcón.
The announcement was made following a meeting between PDVSA president Eulogio Del Pino and energy minister and Corpoelec president Jesse Chacón.
During the meeting, which Falcón state governor Stella Lugo de Montilla also attended, local power generation and distribution issues were discussed, a PDVSA press release said.
"We are supporting projects in the hydropower sector as well as in the areas of transmission and distribution," Del Pino said.
Plans were also unveiled to bring the Mene Mauroa, Urumaco and Dabajuro substations online.
Installed capacity of 150MW will also be added to the 391MW Josefa Camejo thermoelectric plant "within days" and the plant is expected to finish the year at 600MW.
Venezuela is due to spend around US$9mn to complete maintenance at the 1,200MW Termozulia IV plant, it was reported previously.
Maintenance and upgrade work on the country's Rafael Urdaneta thermoelectric plant is also underway.
