Peru tables new acreage for prior consultation
Peru kicked off a new hydrocarbons prior consultation round with indigenous groups after launching a third process earlier this year.
The latest announcements are for blocks 175 and 189 in respective regions Junín and Ucayali, according to state hydrocarbons promotion agency Perupetro.
Perupetro and the culture ministry have identified six indigenous groups in block 175 and two in 189.
Authorities held preparatory meetings in June to review the consultation plans with the groups. Additional workshops are scheduled for this month with results expected in September.
