Second bidding process launched for Mendoza IT park occupants

Firms interested in occupying the new IT park in Argentina's Mendoza province have until March 17 to register in the project's second bidding process, the country's software and IT chamber Cessi said in a statement.

In September, the government of Mendoza kicked off the process of selecting the companies which will occupy the park. The initiative is backed by the province's agroindustry and technology ministry.

A total of 17 IT firms and two universities took part in the first phase of the bidding process, which took place in December 2013.

The IT park is expected to host 40 IT firms in total. The government expects this initiative to generate private investment of 30mn pesos (US$3.80mn). The facility is also expected to generate nearly 800 qualified job positions, according to previous reports.

In January 2013, the government of Argentina's Santa Fe province issued a decree approving the creation of a technology hub in the city of Rosario. The facility will host 17 IT firms, which were selected last year, while construction began in December.

The city of Buenos Aires also has an IT hub in Parque Patricios district with nearly 160 participating IT firms. The Buenos Aires hub was created by the city government in 2008 through law no. 2972.
