Description: Solid Waste Management Center, Magallanes Treatment plants and/or disposal of household solid waste, sanitary landfills and transfer stations and collection and classification centers that serve a population equal to or greater than 5,000 inhabitants The Regional Government of Magallanes and the Chilean Antarctic, through the Regional Planning and Development Division, contracted the Temporary Providers Union (UTP) "IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture SA and INGAM Environmental Engineering and Limited Biotechnology" to provide specialized services of consultancy for the preparation of architectural designs and detailed engineering of the project "Construction of the Solid Waste Management Center, Magallanes", BIP code 30386072-0. Technical Unit in charge of technically and administratively supervising the development of the consultancy is the Division of Infrastructure and Transport, Magallanes y de la Antár Regional Government Service Chilean ethics. The "Magallanes Solid Waste Management Center" project consists of the construction, operation and closure plan of a center for the management and final disposal of household and assimilable solid waste in the Punta Arenas commune, a center that will be sized to meet the demand for environmental sanitation generated in the territory comprised by the communes of Punta Arenas, Laguna Blanca, Río Verde, San Gregorio and Cabo de Hornos, over a useful life of 20 years. The project will consist of a sanitary landfill with a waterproofing system, a leachate management and treatment system, a biogas management system, and a surface runoff interception system, all of which are intended for proper management of emissions and project downloads. Along with the above, the project contemplates the construction and use of office facilities, porter and control booths, truck weighing area, truck wash, machinery and equipment maintenance workshop, recycling facilities, sheds, waste warehouse for internally produced waste (the project will not receive hazardous waste), a warehouse for hazardous substances, a laboratory, an electrical room, dressing rooms, a pump room, and a shed for the physicochemical treatment system. This investment project of the Regional Government of Magallanes and the Chilean Antarctic has the objective of building the "Magallanes Solid Waste Management Center", in the commune of Punta Arenas, to solve the current problems of the management of Household and Assimilated Solid Waste generated in the territory comprised by the communes of Punta Arenas, Laguna Blanca, Río Verde, San Gregorio and Cabo de Hornos, throughout a useful life of 20 years, through a sanitary infrastructure that complies with Supreme Decree No. 189/2005 MINSAL (Approves the Regulation on Basic Sanitary and Safety Conditions in Sanitary Landfills) and incorporates the principles of Circular Economy.
