Description: The project, known as RegioTram, involves the implementation of a light rail system to connect central Bogotá with Facatativá, Madrid, Mosquera and Funza municipalities in the west of Cundinamarca department. The route will run from Calle 26 and Avenida Caracas to Facatativá. The train will be 100% electric and will transport around 130,000 people per day between Bogotá and the municipalities of Facatativá, Madrid, Mosquera and Funza. This Regiotram will also be integrated with the First Metro Line at the station on Calle 26 and Avenida Caracas. The union of the two systems will reduce travel times both for those coming from neighboring municipalities and for people moving within the city.  The project will be built in the Colombian capital, Bogotá, and will largely use the existing platform of the old railway (Corredor Férreo de Occidente). The project will consist of: Main branch of 41.00 km, and connects the city of Bogotá (around Calle 26) with the towns of Mosquera, Madrid, el Corzo and Facatativá. El Dorado Airport Branch, 4.10 km long, connecting the main branch (at Catam) with El Dorado International Airport The "Regiotram de Occidente" is a 100% electric train-tram system and it will connect with the First Line of The Bogotá Metro on Carrera 14 with Calle 26, through the railway corridor that runs through the capital.
