Project Details

As part of a multi-country push and initiative to increase trade with North America, Guatemala's national agency of partnerships for economic infrastructure development (ANADIE) has proposed a rehabilitation and modernization project for an existing railway line on the country's Pacific coast. Construction will proceed incrementally on the infrastructure, starting at Guatemala's border with Mexico and going through the cities of Tecún Umán and Escuintla, on to Puerto Quetzal. The project seeks to update the 230km rail system standard gauge, equipment and terminals to NAFTA standards.
