Damage to potable water pipelines from severe winter to reach US$136mn

The total cost of damage to potable water pipelines from the harsh winter Colombia has faced this year could exceed 260bn pesos (US$136mn), rising 138% from 109bn pesos in 2008, according to the superintendent of public services. The authority used figures from the national information system (SUI) reported by the water and sewage utilities. Colombia has experienced one of the most severe rainy seasons this year as floods and landslides have affected roughly 1.3mn people so far.
