Endesa Denies Elektro Interest

Endesa Spain has no interest in acquiring control of Brazil's Sao Paulo state-based distributor Elektro, an Enersis spokesperson told BNamericas.com in response to reports indicating that it would buy the distributor. Endesa Spain controls Enersis. "I can categorically deny that Endesa is negotiating the purchase of Elektro, as reported in the Brazilian journal Valor Economico. Our headquarters is not negotiating the purchase of any distributors in Brazil," Enersis press manager Marcelo Castillo said. Valor Economico claimed EE was negotiating the purchase of Elektro with its US controller Enron. Simultaneously, Castillo said Endesa has no intention of selling the Brazilian distributor Coelce that serves Ceara state, as had been claimed by Brazilian newsletter Reservado.
