Hidronación mulls public-private mix for Angamarca Sinde project

A public-private option is one of the alternatives Ecuadorian company Hidronación is looking at to finance the 50MW Angamarca Sinde hydro project, a company official told BNamericas. The project would span provinces Cotopaxi and Bolívar and use water from the Angamarca and Sinde rivers. Civil works and equipment would total roughly US$68mn. Definitive design studies - which were tentatively scheduled to have been completed earlier this year - are due to be ready by end-December, said the official. The date was pushed back to allow more time to inform residents of the project. Local engineering services firm Caminos y Canales is carrying out the studies. Bidding to build the project will follow in the first quarter of next year once financing has been secured, the official added. State-owned Guayas river development commission Cedegé controls Hidronación, which already operates the 213MW Marcel Laniado de Wind hydro plant.
