Brazil to hold public hearings on leasing US$350mn Paranaguá port terminals

The Brazilian government will hold public consultations on plans to lease two terminals at Paranaguá port in Paraná state, which are expected to generate investments of 1.8bn reais (US$350mn).
"The PAR 14 and PAR 15 terminals are intended for handling solid vegetable bulk, products such as soy, soy bran, corn and sugar, wheat and barley. To prepare the studies, teams from Infra SA made technical visits to the terminals for an assessment of the existing structures, marketing issues and environmental characteristics of the projects," the recently created state-run firm Infra SA said in a release.
"The work presents the demand potential of each terminal and the engineering solutions needed for the projects, in addition to the economic-financial modeling," it added.
Those interested in making suggestions on the PAR 15 terminal project should register through the WhatsApp messaging app at 55 41 99189-7720 by October 26, the date of the hearing. In the case of the PAR 14 terminal, entries will be made in the same format as of October 27.
The date of the auction has not yet been announced.
Brazil has attracted a series of private sector investments in ports in recent years through leasing contracts.
