Mexican cement manufacturer Cemex's ecofriendly strategy has earned the praise of the country's environment ministry Semarnat and the Mexican state of Nuevo León.

Cemex received GEI-2 recognition for the company's advancement in the management of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and verification of greenhouse gas inventory, according to a Cemex release.

Cement production plants in Tepeaca and Guadalajara received the Semarnat GE-3 award for meeting carbon emissions target and curbing GHG emissions by 233,00t CO2 at Tepeaca and 200,000t C02 at Guadalajara.

Cemex also garnered praise from Nuevo Leon state government for using alternative fuel, Cemex said.

The awards are part of Semarnat's greenhouse gas effect program in Mexico.
