
Colombia begins prequalification for 2 5G highway concessions

The national government continues in the process of consolidating the Bicentennial Concessions , a program in charge of the National Infrastructure Agency - ANI , and for this purpose it begins the bidding process for the Troncales del Magdalena, Puerto Salgar-Barrancabermeja (TM1) corridors and Sabana de Torres-Curumaní (TM2) , two projects that total 531km in length and will have a Capex investment of 3.7 billion pesos. This is the main freight corridor in the country and connects the interior with the north coast.
“We remain firm with the policy of the national government to conclude, conclude and conclude, concessioned transport infrastructure works that serve to generate employment, but mainly to guarantee a better quality of life for Colombians. With these two magnificent works, which add up to about 3.7 billion pesos, we will bring well-being and economic reactivation for the Caribbean Coast and the interior of the country, ” explained Angela María Orozco, Minister of Transportation .
With the publication of the preliminary specifications, it is sought that the possible interested parties know the project documentation and the enabling requirements, but also so that they can make the respective observations.

Bidders may consult the documents in these links and make observations through the official emails of the processes ( vjveappipb0022021@ani.gov.co and vjveappipb0032021@ani.gov.co ) and / or in the internal emails within the process at Secop I.
Likewise, those interested may review the Data Room of the projects, through the Entity's page: www.ani.gov.co IT Services box and enter the Data Room link, then go to highway mode and click in trunk public initiatives of Magdalena.
In this Data Room, the bidders will be able to find the technical information of the project in order to be reviewed and, through the official emails of the processes, make observations on technical, legal and financial issues.
On the trunks of the Magdalena
After providing the corresponding approvals before the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit ( MHCP ) and the National Planning Department ( DNP ), the National Infrastructure Agency begins the bidding process for the Troncal del Magdalena Puerto Salgar-Barrancabermeja corridors (TM1) and Sabana de Torres-Curumaní (TM2), which are essential to improve transit from the interior of the country to the Caribbean Coast.
The Magdalena trunks will improve the connectivity of the Caribbean Coast with the interior of the country and will consolidate, together with the Ruta del Sol 3 project, in the most important freight corridor in Colombia. These works will also benefit the departments of Santander, Antioquia, Bolívar, Cesar, Cundinamarca, Caldas and Boyacá.
For its part, the Troncal del Magdalena Puerto Salgar - Barrancabermeja corridor project has a length of 259.6 km and will have an investment in capex of $ 2.07 billion (estimated figures as of December 2020).
The works include the following works: Construction of a second road and variants: 146.4 km, improvement of the existing road: 147.9 km and rehabilitation of the existing road: 5.08 km.
With this project, it will be possible to consolidate the dual carriageway in the Puerto Salgar - Barrancabermeja section, improving the connection between the center of the country and the Caribbean Coast, as well as guaranteeing the long-term operation and maintenance of the road.
Once the project is completed, the savings in travel time will be two (2) hours, with an operating speed of 100 KPH.
The directly benefited municipalities are: Puerto Salgar, Puerto Berrio, Puerto Boyacá-Boyacá, Cimitarra, Puerto Parra, Simacota and Barrancabermeja. With the start-up of this project, the generation of 58,382 direct, indirect and induced jobs is estimated.
Meanwhile, the Troncal del Magdalena Sabana de Torres-Curimaní corridor project, has a length of 272.1 km and will have an investment in capex of $ 1.70 billion (estimated figures as of December 2020).
The works contemplated by this corridor are: Construction of a second road: 129.3 km and improvement of the existing road: 116.2 km.
The municipalities benefited from this work are: Sabana de Torres, San Alberto San Martín, Rio de Oro, Aguachica, Gamarra, La Gloria, Pelaya, Pailitas and Curumaní. With the launch of this project, the generation of 47,997 direct, indirect and induced jobs is estimated.
Once the project is finished, the savings in travel time will be one (1) hour 50 minutes, with an operating speed of 100 KPH.
The estimated duration of the two projects are: Pre-construction Stage: 1 year, Construction Stage: 4 years, and Operation and Maintenance Stage: 20 years. The concession will have a total duration of 25 years.
