Colombia to sign co-financing for US$9bn infra projects this week

The Colombian government and the mayor's office of Bogotá will sign on August 4 the co-financing agreement for line No. 2 of the capital’s metro and the Calle 13 trunk road, which require a total of 39.9tn pesos (US$9.39bn).
The signing will take place after the two projects were declared of strategic importance, the transport ministry said via Twitter.
Of the total, 70% will come from the national government.

The incoming government of Gustavo Petro, who takes office on August 7, can then carry out the respective bidding processes.
The 15.5km line 2 of the Bogotá metro, with a cost of 34.9tn pesos, will have 10 underground stations and one elevated station. It will run automatically from the operations control center, with no driver.
The project is expected to benefit more than 1.2mn residents.
The 4.97tn-peso Calle 13 trunk road will be 11.4km long, with 13 bus stations and a terminal station. The fleet will operate with 100% electric technology.
The corridor will benefit some 800,000 residents of Bogotá and Cundinamarca department.
