Ecuador’s energy and non-renewable natural resources ministry has modified the timetables for public selection processes for power generation and transmission projects totaling US$1.86bn.

500MW Renewable Energy Block (hydro, solar, wind and biomass)

The acquisition of participation rights and data room access will run through April 12, and consultation and consolidation of bidding rules through April 29, with technical and economic offers scheduled to be opened on October 28 and December 28, respectively.

400MW Natural Gas Combined Cycle Block

Prequalification ends on May 10, followed by the acquisition of participation rights and data room access through June 2. The qualification of technical bids will take place between November 9 and January 5, and the evaluation of economic offers from January 6 to 20.

Nororiental Transmission System

The deadline to submit expressions of interest is March 16 with prequalifiers to be announced on April 22, followed by the acquisition of participation rights and data room access through May 17. Technical and economic proposals are due by October 25.

The processes were launched in December and decisions for all three are expected in early 2023.

State power corporation Celec declared void the tender for an US$8mn, 280-day contract to repair the boiler of the 133MW Trinitaria thermo plant.

The call fell through after no proposals were submitted. Information on whether a new call would be issued was not disclosed.

Celec also has a tender underway to structure the public selection process for the concession of the 2,400MW Santiago hydro project.
