Mexico continues plans for US$500mn water program with supervision tender
Mexico’s water authority Conagua is seeking to award on October 25 a contract to guarantee that public works related to the 10bn-peso (US$500mn) Agua Saludable para La Laguna program in Durango and Coahuila states meet regulatory norms.
Economic bids for the supervision contract will be presented on October 24, according to records on procurement site Compranet, which show the names of two participants: Grupo Indec and Consultores e Ingenieros del Valle.
The water program, which seeks to deliver 6.34m3/s of water to the Comarca Lagunera urban area, comprises a total of six main works, according to the document. The program is a response to high arsenic levels found in the area's potable water.
The main works involve a diversion dam and intake work, a pumping plant, a gravity aqueduct, a water treatment plant, a regulation tank and other complementary works, such as trunk branches.
The tender for the pumping plant was launched in September. However, Conagua determined the date for the winner announcement on Wednesday, having received four bids on October 12, ranging from 300mn pesos to 450mn pesos.
BNamericas records show that the authority has awarded three major contracts for the program so far after resuming works this year.
In August, Conagua awarded an 841mn-peso contract to a consortium formed by AMG River Desalsolves and Grupo Inmobiliario Tlahtoani to build two gravity flow pipelines in Lerdo. Construction began on August 23.
In June, Conagua awarded Sagar Construcciones a 50mn-peso contract to build a diversion dam on the Nazas River. And in May it awarded a 1.6bn-peso contract to build a conventional coagulation treatment plant with capacity to generate 6.34m3/s of potable water to a consortium led by Regiomontana de Construcción y Servicios (Recsa).
