Nicaragua highway works make progress

The upgrade of an 11.8km highway section linking Ciudad Sandino and Mateare, in Nicaragua's Managua department, is 25% complete, government portal El 19 Digital reported.

The World Bank provides the necessary US$25mn investment.

Works include widening the stretch from two to four lanes on the section that belongs to the highway connecting Managua and León, as well as 18 drainage works and three new pedestrian bridges.

Launched in March 2018, works are expected to wrap up by March 2020.
