
OSIPTEL supervises the total restoration of Movistar's fixed and mobile internet service in the south of the country

The Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (OSIPTEL) informs the public of the following:
- The OSIPTEL Monitoring Center detected the degradation of the quality of the mobile and fixed services of the operating company Movistar, on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at approximately 6:11 pm in some areas of the departments of Apurímac, Arequipa, Cusco, Madre de Dios, Moquegua, Puno, Tacna. This degradation also affected the mobile and fixed services of the operating company Entel.
- Immediately, OSIPTEL requested information from the operating company Movistar on the origin of the event, as well as a detailed report on the impact caused on the users who have been affected, in order to evaluate and determine the corresponding actions, according to current regulations. .
- The operating company informed OSIPTEL that the event was due to two cuts in the fiber optic network in the Chala-Atico section, in the department of Arequipa, before which it activated its backup system.
- OSIPTEL will continue to supervise the work carried out by the operating company until the normalization of the service.
